We had Dr Fiona Beals visit as part of the Sir Peter Blake Dream Team. Both her and her husband are ex West Coasters and worked with us doing hands on tasks that fostered team work. We had to make stretchers using duct tape, these had to carry a junior student. It was heaps of fun. We ran out of time as she had also planned for us to make towers using spaghetti and 1 metre of masking tape, the tower had to hold a marshmallow on top. We ended up doing this task after she left then eating the marshmallows. It sounded like this was going to be easy but it took lots of thinking about as well as everyone working together. When we researched this we found that younger students are more successful at this task ad they don't over think things they just build and change things as they go.

  1. Hi Room 2
I like your blog post because you can see the photos and you explained your learning. I think you could put some of the writing under the photos like a caption. What was your favourite part about this active? When I went on my school camp a couple of years ago and we had to bring the stretcher through a bush area and we had to carry the injured person back to the fence.

  3. Hello room 2 I like the part when you made the stretchers because they look really good. You could improve on having more writing because I liked reading it. It reminds me whenever I have to put up a stretcher when we go camping. See Ya Soon

  5. Hi Room 2,
When I looked at the pictures of you making the stretchers etc I thought they looked very cool. I have one question: How far could you carry the stretcher when someone was lying on it?

It looks cool making stretches out of duct tape.

  18. Hello Room 2. This sounds like a lot of fun. I think you could improve it if you put a photo of the marshmallow tower as well as the stretcher instead of just the stretcher. I don't think i would be able to make a very good stretcher because it seems hard. Dr Fiona has the same name as the girl in the book that I read a few days ago.I bet those marshmallows were Divine.
How hard was it to make the stretcher and to make the marshmallow tower?? Great job Room 2 from Emma O.
